Enterprise Security Services (ESS) support for the Office of Information and Technology (OIT), Security and Technology Branch (STP) – Customs and Border Protection (CBP)

DSCI provides technical security expertise in planning, coordinating, preparing and executing assessment and authorization support to the CBP Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) office’s mission to ensure all systems and technologies are secure and meet applicable security requirements throughout Continental US (CONUS) and its territories. We provide Program Directorate-wide System Security, Security Architecture, and Security Authorization Process (SAP), including security testing, process and procedure evaluation, and digital forensics support for all of CBP Directorates and Program Offices including EDMED, ENTSD, CSPD, TASPD, PSPD, OAM, OA, and OITA, through our work as Information System Security Officers (ISSO) and Certification Authority (CA), and in accordance with FISMA, DHS Policy 4300, and CBP Policy 1400 requirements. DSCI provides extensive SME experience in FISMA Compliance, DHS SAP, Risk Assessment and Analysis, Security Architecture, Wireless Security, and Security Policy and Compliance. DSCI has in-depth knowledge of DHS SAP process and procedures, DHS/CBP security requirements, CBP applications and their development/operating environment, DHS mandated tools, NIST guidance, DHS Sensitive Systems Handbook, DHS 4300A, and CBP ISS Policies and Procedures Handbook. Our ISSOs are integral team support for Program Office’s technical staff and engineers on the most effective methods to implement DHS and NIST mandated security controls, provide security solutions and interpretation of DHS and CBP policies, ensure implementation of security controls across the CBP SELC, provide compensating security controls when minimum mandated security controls are not technically feasible or cost effective, and collaborate closely with DHS, CBP, and other industry stakeholders. The DSCI team provides support to CBP CISO to assess the Authorization to Test for developmental systems and proof of concepts for new technology insertion to meet the constant change requirements from Border Patrol agents.
